SODC Community Waste Service. There will be a refuse collection wagon at Wheatley Primary School car park on the 4th Saturday of each month, from 08:00 - 12:00hrs. This service starts on 24th May 2008. Please use this facility for land-fill waste, not garden rubbish. Garden rubbish should be put into the brown wheelie bins for fortnightly collection at the road side.For more information see the SODC Re-cycling, Rubbish & Waste Service page.
The green re-cycling boxes can be used for the following:
Card and paper, but NOT cellophane or cling-film or cartons/packaging with foil/plastic lining (Tetra paks);
Plastics (clean) of most varieties BUT NOT expanded polystyrene;
Tins and cans (clean & squashed), but NOT tin or aluminium foil such as take away or pie tins .
NO GLASS Bottles - these can be re-cycled in Bottle Banks at Horspath Village Hall car park or at the Asda car park at Wheatley.
NO Garden waste - to dispose of this see the SODC Garden Waste and Composting page.

May 2008 - You can now recycle your paper-based drinks and liquid food cartons (such as milk, fruit juice and soup cartons). Tetra pak cartons are made from cardboard, as well as thin layers of aluminium and plastic and therefore cannot be recycled in your green recycling box. Take your empty, clean cartons to the Oxfordshire CC Waste Recycling Centre at Redbridge (South Oxford, just off the Abingdon Road adjacent to Redbridge Park & Ride).
Starting sometime in 2009, waste collection will probably be as follows:
- Weekly collection of food waste in a kitchen caddy;
- Fortnightly collection of non-recyclable waste, in wheeled bins;
- Fortnightly collection of recycling, including glass, mixed plastics, cans and paper in wheeled bins or boxes;
