Welcome to Horspath Village

Friends of Horspath

Friends of Horspath are encouraging the growth of a sense of Community in the village. As a key part of this the Friends have established a fund-raising working group in order to purchase the the Methodist Chapel as a valuable village asset. This is a once and only chance they have to secure it. It will add to, and complement, not compete with, the facilities available in the village hall and indeed it will provide a safe pedestrian access to it. Thanks to the financial support of village residents and the backing of the Parish Council and District Councillors, substantial Community Funding is now in place to allow the Friends of Horspath being able to submit a bid to secure the purchase of the Chapel for use by the whole village community. There is still time for some much needed further funding from villagers and progress will be reported on this page.

Join Friends of Horspath. We now need as many people in the village as possible to join Friends of Horspath, not just for the keeping of the Chapel, but to help fulfill its charitable aims - "To improve and advance the lives of those who live and work in the community of Horspath". Please download this "Friends of Horspath Membership form", fill it in and return it to community.hub@horspath.org.uk or to the address on the form.

Friends of Horspath Small Charity hereby resolve to dissolve itself and to transfer its assets to Friends of Horspath Registered Charity No xxxxx

The need for this meeting was because in January 2013 the small charity Friends of Horspath was formed. When funds exceed £5000 and when it is intended to purchase a building, this is no longer a suitable structure. This week we were notified that our application to become a Registered Charity was accepted by the Charity Commission. This is now a suitable vehicle for our plans. A vote was be taken and passed unanimously. There were 22 members of the Friends present and 5 apologies for absence. In addition to the formal meeting, there was an opportunity to hear how the group are progressing with plans to purchase the Chapel.
